Pokemon Go's August schedule has been filled with all sorts of events and Water Fest is the latest one in line. It will take place from 23 to 30 August 2019 and will celebrate all things watery so Water-type Pokemon will spawn more.

Pokemon Go has been removing restrictions via events a lot lately. First, Niantic announced a temporary removal of the regional locks for certain Pokemon through the Ultra bonus' week two special and now the trainers who don't live close to the water will have more access to Water-type Pokemon with the Water Fest.

While the start and finish dates are pretty straightforward, keep in mind that the starting time is 13:00 PDT / 20:00 UTC on 23 August 2019. It is not local time so make sure you convert the given hours to your local before planning when or what to do on 23rd.

Water-type Pokemon will appear more frequently for everyone. Magicarp, Woope and Wailmer will appear more frequently in the wild while zones near water will see increased concentrations of Wartortle, Poliwhirl, Seaking, Lapras, Qwilfish, Mantine, Lotad, Feebas, Piplup, Buizel and Finneon.

Furthermore, there are a few other changes for the week:

  • Water-types will hatch more often from eggs
  • Kingler and Crawdaunt will be able to learn Crabhammer, the new Water-type Charged attack
  • Shiny Carvanha and Shiny Barboach will pop up for the luckiest trainers around

Blastoise, Vaporeon and Lapras are a few examples of the Water-type Pokemon that will appear in raids but they are not the main attraction there. On Wednesday, 28 August 2019 from 18:00 to 19:00 local time, players will be able to encounter Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf in raids. Remember, it's local time for this portion of the event.

Double Hatch Candy bonus will be enabled for the entire duration of the event . In case you happen to use a Water-type Pokemon as your buddy, the distance you need to move in order to get Buddy Candy will be halved.
