Niantic are going to kick off Pokemon Go Lunar New Year event on 24 January 2020. There will be uncommon Pokemon to be found, several bonuses and additional research tasks to be completed, spanning several weeks and going into February.
Pokemon Go will partake in the festivities regarding the Year of the Rat by featuring Minccino, the Chinchilla Pokemon. There is much more Niantic folks are offering for the duration of the event though.
Starting on Friday, 24 January 2020, the festivities will start by featuring red Pokemon, who will appear more frequently in the wild. These include:
Lucky players will come across a Gyarados in the wild and the luckiest among them will encounter the shiny version. Darumaka will hatch from seven-kilometre eggs just like some red Pokemon, including Shuckle and Foongus.
Darumaka, the Zen Charm Pokemon will make a Pokemon Go debut during this time. On top of that, Gifts will have a chance to award Rare Candy and trading will more make the people Lucky Friends more often. Traded Pokemon will have an increased chance to become Lucky Pokemon.
As mentioned above, Minccino will be appearing in Pokemon Go in a special Limited Research event. Professor Willow will have more information and provide the players with the know-how to evolve it into a Cinccino. This part of the festivities will behave like a Community Day as it will only be available on Sunday, 2 February 2020, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time.
During the same time frame, Pokemon that fit the theme of Year of the Rat will appear more often. These include:

Furthermore, Minccino will be hatching more frequently from the five-kilometre eggs. All the festivities will conclude on 3 February 2020 but Minccino will continue to be available from the same eggs while lucky players will be able to encounter the shiny version.
