Niantic adapted Pokemon GO to change some of its features to accommodate the limited movement during Coronavirus pandemic but some of those are getting reverted soon.
Starting on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at 1:00 PM PDT / 8:00 PM GMT, some of Pokemon GO mechanics will return to normal. One of them is the hatch distance which is coming back for the Eggs. In other words, people will need to walk again if they want their Pokemon newcomers.
Furthermore, the Buddy Pokemon will bring Gifts only when players are close to running out and it will happen once a day. Spinning a SpokeStop will have increased chances of granting a Gift but this will not be guaranteed any longer and Incubators will be included in more boxes from the shop.
Overall, it seems some aspects of the game are returning to normal, even though Covid-19 is nowhere near to being overcome. However, Niantic decided to keep some of the previously introduced mechanics that were meant to help people stay at home.
For example, the number of Gifts a player can carry will still remain at 20, despite some sources getting cut, as seen above. On top of that, triple Stardust and XP for the first Pokemon catch of the day will stay around and Incense duration will not be changed from 60 minutes.
