Pokemon GO has everyone covered this weekend. A new batch of Research Breakthrough encounters has just been added to the game and there's a movie tie-in event for Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle.

October Research Breakthrough encounters

The new Research Breakthrough encounters have gone live on October 1 and they will go on until November 1. This is your chance to encounter Yamask.

Pokemon in five-star raids

The Mythical Pokemon Genesect holding a Douse Drive will be popping up in five-star raids this weekend and until October 12, at 10:00 a.m. local time. This particular Genesect is making its Pokemon GO debut this weekend so make sure you give it a warm welcome.

Mega-Evolved Pokemon appearing in Mega Raids

Mega Gengar will be appearing in Mega Raids from Friday, October 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle tie-in event

The new Pokemon movie will hit the screens on October 8, but we're celebrating early as Zarude, the Rogue Monkey Pokemon is making its Pokemon GO debut in honour of the upcoming picture.

The event is now live in Pokemon GO and will go on until October 10, at 8:00 p.m. local time. 

Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle tie-in event - Features

  • A limited-time Special Research story: Complete the research line to encounter Zarude and help Professor Willow learn more about the Rogue Monkey Pokemon. Make sure you get the Special Research during the event and you can get around to finishing it even after the celebration has come to a close.
  • Encounter Pokémon related to Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle: Hoothoot, Combee, Drilbur, Cottonee, Dwebble, and more.
  • Explorer Pikachu will be making its return to Pokemon GO, appearing in the wild. A Shiny Explorer Pikachu is also out there.
  • Pokemon seen in the movie will also be appearing in raids throughout the event:
  • Explorer Pikachu, Larvitar, Roggenrola, Foongus, and Rufflet in one-star raids.
  • Lickitung, Chansey, Pinsir, Ludicolo, and Flygon in three-star raids.
  • Jessie and James are up to no good once again: keep an eye out for the Meowth Baloon until October 15. 
  • Themed Field Research tasks are available at PokeStops. These will lead to encounters with Audino, Rufflet, and more.
  • New free avatar items are available in the Style Shop, including the Adventure Hat and the Wailmer Water Bottle.
