Niantic announced that Pokemon Air Adventures are returning to Pokemon Go in 2022 and offered the details such as the date and features of the event.
Pokemon Go is resuming the Pokemon Air Adventures collaboration event on May 3 and the event will last until May 8, 2022. It will feature Flying Pikachu balloons all over Okinawa while a special ticketed event will take place in the same area on May 7 and 8, 2022. Niantic didn't reveal the specifics of the ticketed event yet but they did note more details are coming soon, through the usual POGO channels.
Before May, however, there are other things for Pokemon Go enthusiasts to enjoy. Pikachu wearing an Okinawa kariyushi shirt will be appearing in the wild in Okinawa from March 19, 2022. Trainers will be able to catch this particular Pikachu for over a year and lucky ones may even find a shiny version of the Pokemon.
Furthermore, Corsola will be accompanying the peculiar Pikachu with the shirt and this one will also have a shiny version, provided you're lucky enough to bump into one. Corsola will apparently be available in a few locations other than Okinawa.
Trainers will also be able to discover new PokeStops at Poke Lids (Pokemon-themed maintenance hole covers) as well as on certain tourist sites in Okinawa.
Grabbing gifts at these PokeStops will yield in-game postcard illustrations that are not available through any other means so if you fancy yourself a collector, you might want to visit as many as possible during the limited time.
