PlayStation 5 event recap: pricing, release date, trailers and more

Sony have finally revealed the price of PlayStation 5 console and on last night's event and also showed us some new trailers of previously announced but also brand new games.

Sony's big PlayStation 5 event is finally behind us and today, we are going to look at everything the publisher revealed and talked about on their show. The price is one of the biggest reveals as well as a brand new God of War and Final Fantasy games. On top of this, there are new trailers for previously revealed games so without further ado, let's dive into it:

PRICING AND RELEASE DATE

Just like rumours suggested, PlayStation 5 will cost $499 while the Digital Edition is priced at $399. The console is set to launch on November 12, 2020, in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zeland and South Korea. Seven days later, on November 19, 2020, the console will be available worldwide.

GAMES

As expected, the PS5 event was jam-packed with new trailers but also a couple of new announcements. Sony surprised many with a brief teaser of a new God of War game, which is coming sometime in 2021. 

The rumours about Final Fantasy XVI reveal were also true. Sony and Square Enix dropped a full gameplay trailer, showcasing a new setting and characters. The game will be a console exclusive for PS5, which means it is coming to PC, too.

The highly anticipated remake of Demon's Souls also got a gameplay trailer and a confirmation that it will be a launch title for the console. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is another game that will be available on November 12, 2020. Sony also confirmed that the game is now cross-gen title which means it's coming to PS4 Pro too, just like Horizon: Forbidden West. 

Another major announcement came from WB Games. The long-awaited trailer for a Harry Potter game finally arrived revealing the Hogwart's Legacy title.
