After the latest Wastelanders update, Bethesda will look to add even more content to their online RPG Fallout 76. According to Project Lead Jeff Gardiner now that the companion system is in the game, pets will be coming in future updates.
Recently, Fallout 76 received its biggest update yet named Wastelanders. This update introduced a ton of new features including NPCs, factions and companions among other things.
Thanks to this update, the developers will be able to add even more features to the game since Wastelanders introduced a couple of systems to make the new features possible. Companions is one of these systems and according to Fallout 76 Project Lead Jeff Gardiner, players will soon be able to wander the wasteland with a pet, thanks to the system.
Over at Fallout 76 subreddit Jeff Gardiner and Ferret Baudoin talked to fans about the Wastelanders update and when asked if pets are coming to the game Gardiner replied:
"Edible ones? I kid. Now that we have our companions system in the game, we are looking to add pets as well."
Unfortunately, Gardiner did not reveal when exactly they plan to introduce pets to Fallout 76 but you can expect it in the future updates.
Pets were initially introduced in 1997's Fallout as an optional companion. Since then Dogmeat has appeared in every Fallout game and it will be interesting to see if the beloved German Shepherd also arrives to Fallout 76.
Fallout 76 is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
