Nintendo announced another batch of classic games coming to Nintendo Switch Online subscription. These four titles will be available to the subscribers on 19 February 2020 and include yet another tennis game.
Nintendo went hard on ROM sites a few years back, eliminating the most popular ones as fans watched the libraries go down. Some wondered why that was happening, others figured NES and SNES games would be made available as paid titles or through subscription on Switch.
The latter option became reality and Nintendo just recently announced another batch of four games that will be added to Nintendo Switch Online (NSO).
SNES games that will be available on 19 February 2020 are Pop'n TwinBee and Smash Tennis. The first one is a top-down bullet hell shooter that can be played in co-op. Don't let the cute graphics fool you, this game will require full attention to get anywhere.
Smash Tennis has no relation to Mario Bros even though one might assume that due to the "Smash" part of the name. Fans are not particularly excited about this one since there is a plethora of tennis games on Switch already. That is not to say this one is not worth playing though.
Going back further into the future, NES titles that will join the roster are Shadow of the Ninja and Eliminator Boat Duel. The first one is somewhat reminiscent of Ninja Gaiden series but it also has multiplayer so you don't have to go through it alone.
Meanwhile, Eliminator Boat Duel is one of my favourite NES games ever as the developers pulled various feats of creativity to overcome technical limitations and provide players with a feeling of competing in a tournament. The colourful cast of characters with silly names, faces and stereotypes only makes the adventure more enjoyable.
