Niantic have announced three major Pokemon GO events that will be happening during summer 2018. These events will happen in Dortmund - Germany, Chicago - USA and Yokosuka - Japan during May, June and July for Europe and North America.
The European part of Pokemon GO Summer Tour will happen in Westfalenpark, Dortmund. The event will be Safari Zone and it will run from 30 June to 01 July 2018. Westfalenpark is one of the biggest inner-city parks in Europe that includes water surfaces, a Japanese garden and playgrounds for children, making it a perfect venue filled with different types of Pokemon.
Activities will not be strictly tied to Westfalenpark though, and Niantic have stated that they might spill into the city district. Safari Zone will be an open event for anyone who wants to jump in, and the potential participants only need to worry about travel and accommodation expenditures.
The North American part of the event will be branded "A Walk in the Park" and it will come back to Chicago, after the last year's Pokemon GO Fest . This event will take place in Lincoln Park and will be available from 14 to 15 July 2018. While the city of Dortmund collaborated with Niantic to host the European event, it seems this wasn't the case with Chicago as the North American Walk in the Park will not be an open event.
Tickets will go on sale for $20 starting on 11 May 2018, and will offer players a "unique, immersive play experience unseen anywhere else". Lincoln Park itself has a 1.8 mile or 2.9 kilometer long walking course where players of all ages will be able to participate in "exclusive activities" that were not detailed yet.
Japanese players will have a Safari Zone event in Yokosuka, Japan later this summer that start an "exciting schedule" for the Asian players. Niantic have also stated that this will not be just a single event, but more along the lines of several events following after one another.
These events will not impede the regular monthly Community Day events, such as the one happening on Saturday, 19 May 2018 that will feature Charmander. Niantic have also revealed the dates for June and July events in this announcement, with one happening on 16 June and the other on 08 July 2018.
