According to Easter egg from The Division 2, the next Assassin's Creed game could be all about Vikings and the Norse mythology. A poster, titled Valhalla can be found in The Division 2 and it shows a soldier holding an Apple of Eden.
Every now and then, we get new leaks and details that suggest a setting or a story of the next Assassin's Creed game. Previous leaks revealed Japan and Rome as some of the potential locations for yet unannounced Assassin's Creed game and today, we have another setting to add to the list.
The latest bit of info about the next game in the beloved series comes from Ubisoft directly. Well, not in the way that Ubisoft announced something, but technically, it can be seen as a tease from the publisher.
According to a poster from The Division 2, the next Assassin's Creed game may be Viking-themed. The poster features a soldier holding what looks like an Apple of Eden, a mysterious and powerful artefact from Assassin's Creed games.
You may ask what that has to do with Vikings, well, the title of the poster is Valhalla, which is the great hall in Norse mythology where heroes slain in battle are received. Also, the soldier is wearing what appears to be a Norse-style helmet but that's about everything Viking-related in the poster, that you can see below.
To fuel the speculation even further, in Assassin's Creed 2 there is a mention of Idun, a Nordic goddess associated with youth and rejuvenation. Idun was the caretaker of the orchard of the golden apples, fruit which ensured the gods' vigour and immortality, although these were in truth Apples of Eden.
Another hint that Ubisoft may be working on Viking-themed Assassin's Creed game are the artworks from Ubisoft concept artist Michel Nucera. The artist posted images that were titled Assassin's Creed Ragnarok, but after speculations started, he responded that these pictures were his personal project. However, shortly after that, he deleted the artworks from his ArtStation profile. You can see one of the removed pictures above.
