Sony have scheduled a new PlayStation 5 showcase and the event is slated for Wednesday, September 16, 2020, with the running time expected to be around 40 minutes.
According to the announcement, the exact date and time is Wednesday, September 16 at 1pm PDT / 9pm BST / 10pm CEST. You can follow it via Twitch or YouTube.
"Before PlayStation 5 launches this holiday, we wanted to give you one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!)", wrote SIE content communications director Sid Shuman.
Sony promised 40 minutes worth of updates from World Wide Studios as well as showings by some top third-party developers. In other words, if you are expecting more deep dives into PlayStation 5's underlying architecture - you'll be disappointed with Wednesday's presentation.
If, however, you're interested in what PlayStation 5 brings on the games side, the show should be up your alley. Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart are the usual suspects, and they should be featured in the presentation.
That said, perhaps the most anticipated feature of Sony's upcoming showcase is the last remaining piece of the PS5 puzzle - the price.
We suppose that Sony won the waiting game against Microsoft, who confirmed the price points for Xbox Series X and its digital-only little brother, Series S. These are $499 and $299, respectively, where the Series S price point was made possible by downgraded graphics and memory.
Sony can now set their price points to best compete with Microsoft's next-gen beast, and hopefully, negate some of Xbox Series X's hardware advantages. Let's just hope their plan for Wednesday includes the price.
