Neil Druckmann announced at the Summer Games Fest that Factions 2 is now a standalone multiplayer game with a story and new cast of characters.
The Last of Us Factions 2 is now a standalone multiplayer game. The Co-President of Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann shared the first details about the game at tonight's Summer Games Fest show, confirming that Factions 2 has grown much larger in scope than the team initially planned.
Factions 2 has been in development for two years now and Druckmann promised that more details about this project will be coming in 2023. For the time being, we have the first, official concept art of the game and you can check it out in the image above.
To us, it really looks like a battle royale title but let's not jump to such conclusions just since Naughty Dog didn't confirm those details.
Other than the concept art and a couple of interesting tidbits from Druckmann, we don't have any additional details. We know that it will be Naughty Dog's biggest online experience ever but that's expected since the team didn't really have any big multiplayer games in their portfolio so far.
As for the release date, again, there's nothing official but given that more details will be shared sometime next year, a potential 2023 or 2024 release date is not unrealistic.
All in all, we are looking forward to next year and the first details, gameplay and screenshots of Factions 2.
