Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 just went live, and it seems like players are getting hit by turbulence as the game is riddled by continuous server issues and gameplay issues. Under the provision of Microsoft and developer Asobo Studio, the game is the latest edition of the Microsoft Flight Simulator series.
The game is currently available on PC and Xbox Series S|X. It is available for purchase on the Xbox Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam. While Microsoft Flight Simulator has been the peak testament of modern day simulation games, it seems like the newest title has faced major setbacks on launch day.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024's Bumpy Takeoff
Following the launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, players took it to Twitter to report countless issues including longer wait times and server instability issues. As a follow-up for player reports, the official Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Twitter account addressed the issues confirming that as larger numbers of players are swarming to the game, their servers are facing excess amounts of requests.
As for the major issues reported by players, the major ones are server wait times and gameplay instability. Players have reported that they have been waiting for more than thirty minutes at a time to get into the game. Moreover, many players have reported that the game is unstable at its current version causing various hardware problems such as GPU overloading and crashes.
While Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 also featured the same issues at launch, Asobo Studio ended up polishing the game to a near perfect state in a few months. The current issues of Microsoft Flight 2024 will get fixed soon as Asobo Studio is working on releasing an update to fix the concurrent problems.
As for the GPU overloading issue, Asobo Studio has requested players to restart their game if the GPU utilization crosses 90% stating, "For users whose initial load is past 90% and no longer progressing, we recommend a reboot. Otherwise we advise waiting to allow the loading to proceed as normal." Hopefully, with an post launch update, the current major issues will end up getting fixed.
