Square Enix and Crystal Dynamix published a blog post detailing the future and present of Marvel's Avengers, announcing both good and bad news for the players.
Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics acknowledged they are aware of the turbulent start Marvel's Avengers had, leading them to note that there were issues that detracted from the players' enjoyment of the game and apologised for it.
While the recent updates worked to address some of the bugs, stability and matchmaking issues, the team noted their work is not done and expressed their appreciation for the player base who provided the feedback.
Their way of saying thanks is to provide players with in-game goodie pack that includes 1,500 credits, 7,000 units, 250 upgrade modules, 20 DNA keys and a Sarah Garza-inspired nameplate. All of these items will become available for claiming on October 22 and will be there until November 5, 2020.
With the good news out of the way, it's time to disappoint those who have been waiting for the next-gen version. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launch will be postponed to 2021 to provide the team "the time to deliver a next-gen experience showcasing all that this game is meant to be". It's possible this means to launch it with fewer issues than the current-gen one.
That said, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S owners will still be able to play Marvel's Avengers as it is on the current platforms. While that's nice news, Crystal Dynamics doubled down and made commitments to make the game cross-gen compatible so they will be able to carry progress over and keep matchmaking between current and next-gen consoles.
The next-gen upgrade will be free of charge.
