According to the latest data mine from prominent Fortnite data miner Hypex, Epic Games and Nintendo could partner up to bring Splatoon to Fortnite in the next big crossover event. This event could also be an exclusive for Nintendo Switch.
Crossover events are nothing new for Epic Games and their cartoonish shooter Fortnite. Over the last few years, Fortnite welcomed a huge variety of collaborations, including Hollywood films and other games.
The latest crossover event is currently live in Fortnite and it introduced Borderlands 3-themed location and items while the next collaboration could be just around the corner as many red balloons have started to appear all over the game's map, teasing the IT-themed event.
However, the next major crossover event could bring Nintendo's colourful third-person shooter Splatoon to Fortnite according to prominent Fortnite data miner Hypex. Apparently, evidence has been found in Fortnite game files, hinting at Splatoon cosmetics which include Splatoon-themed skin and backbling.
"We **MIGHT** see a Fortnite x Splatoon Collab..Found a skin & backbling! (they were added recently to a secret place)," Hypex wrote on Twitter. Here are the full lines of code in the game files:
At the moment, it remains unclear if the potential crossover event will include more stuff. It may only consist of the listed items or it can be a full-fledged experience like Borderlands 3 or The Avengers collaborations.
Furthermore, If Epic Games and Nintendo indeed have plans for a crossover event between Fortnite and Splatoon, it's possible that this one could be an exclusive for Switch since the game is only available on Nintendo's console.
Of course, this is just a guess and we'll have to wait and see if the event is coming in the first place and if it will release on all platforms.
