League of Legends Sivir is one of the oldest champions in the game

It all started with some small changes to Amumu's kit, and now Riot Games are using the same method to revive all old champions and bring them back into the meta. Next up is Sivir.

The most recent champions that received a mid-scope update were Olaf, Taliyah, and Swain, with Ahri superseding them just by a few short weeks. Now, RiotAugust has announced on Twitter that Sivir is getting a mid-scope update, a mini rework basically, as well:

"After Taliyah/Swain/Olaf the team has started up work on a few more mid-scope updates. Sivir is the next champ who'll be receiving one with more to come in the future! RiotRayYonggi is working on her."

On a Reddit thread, the developer in question answered some inquiries as to what we can expect Sivir to look like after the updates themselves, saying:

"High-level goals are to legitimize her Crit build and play style by giving her more consistent tools to do high DPS at the cost of some of her ability to shuttle teammates around.

This will be done by making her W and Q far more functional for crit builds and giving her a personal DPS buff on R in exchange for some (but not all) of her utility and early poke."

Riot Games League of Legends champion Swain now looks like Lucius Malfoy. Swain benefitted the most from the recent rework

As he explains, SIvir will now take a different role compared to before, where her niche will be:

  • Best-in-class AOE damage
  • Low range, high-risk high reward
  • Strong wave clear
  • Movespeed for Allies reduced compared to the current one.

At the end of the day, Riot are looking to, as they say, improve but not replace each of her spells to keep her familiar but more functional.
