Riot Games is set to introduce a series of item changes in the upcoming League of Legends patch 14.2.
These alterations aim to fine-tune the game's balance, addressing both underutilized items and those that have been dominating the meta.
Let's delve into the specifics of the item buffs and nerfs slated for this patch.
Item Buffs
- Horizon Focus:
- Despite the prevailing dominance of AP burst champions, Horizon Focus has struggled to find its place in the current meta. The overshadowing presence of Stormsurge, acknowledged as the game's strongest item, has hindered Horizon Focus. In response, Riot is applying slight buffs to Horizon Focus in an effort to enhance its viability.
- Steel Sigil:
- Introduced as one of the newest component items, Steel Sigil provides AD and armor, serving as a precursor to items like Death’s Dance or Guardian Angel. However, its perceived value falls short of its cost. Riot recognizes this and is implementing buffs to enhance the item's effectiveness.
- Stridebreaker:
- Bruisers, outside of Sundered Sky users, have struggled to make a mark in the current meta. Stridebreaker, in particular, has seen a decline in strength compared to the previous season. Despite receiving buffs in patch 14.1b, Riot is pushing for additional improvements to Stridebreaker in the upcoming update.
Item Nerfs
- Bloodsong:
- The introduction of support starter item changes has given players a choice among five support items, with Bloodsong emerging as a standout. Recognizing its prominence, Riot is implementing adjustments to address its impact on the game.
- Frozen Heart:
- Similar to the rise in strength of AP champions, tanks have also experienced a significant power boost. Frozen Heart, in particular, is undergoing nerfs in response to the heightened effectiveness of tanks.
- Riftmaker:
- The current AP burst meta has its roots in two main items, and Riftmaker is one of them. With Gwen receiving buffs in the upcoming update, Riot is opting to nerf both Riftmaker and the other culprit to balance the playing field.
- Stormsurge:
- Standing as the other primary contributor to the prevailing AP meta, Stormsurge is receiving substantial nerfs. Recognized as the most impactful nerf among the adjustments, Riot aims to curtail Stormsurge's influence on the game.
Patch 14.2 Release Date
All these anticipated changes are set to roll out with patch 14.2, scheduled for Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Players can brace themselves for a shift in the meta and strategic adjustments as these item modifications come into effect.
