Volibear is an old champion in League of Legends. One who got a recent rework by Riot Games, admittedly, but still one whose abilities should not give him so much domination in the jungle as he enjoyed.
And yet, dominate he did, and Riot are now nerfing him across the board to balance out his rampage, in patch 12.13:
- Q - bonus movement speed decreased, base damage decreased.
- W - base damage decreased, scaling with bonus health decreased.
- E - damage based on target’s max health decreased, damage cap against non-champions decreased.
The explanation Riot gave for these buffs hits the nail on the head, and we hope they will actually be enough to put this demigod in his place:
"Volibear has been much too strong recently, especially in the jungle. We’re pulling power away from some of his stronger jungling tools, like his reliable ganks and extra damage against high-health objectives like Baron and Dragon. We’re also lowering his damage across the board so he doesn’t do quite as much when he opts to itemize tank."
Now, all we can do is hope that the speed buff from Turbo Chemtank will not be enough for him to catch up to every living being on the Rift and maul them to death. We're already getting Udyr flashbacks.
