With Arcane Season 2 currently in full swing, it seems like a new champion has leaked for League of Legends. This time, the connection is pretty apparent, and the champion is directly inspired by the hit Netflix series.
Released in 2021, Arcane immediately gained fame among the viewers and led them to the world of Runeterra brightness and grime, especially Piltover and Zaun. This anime series, featuring a number of champion favorites like Jinx, Vi, Jayce, Viktor, and Heimerdinger, brought League lore to a completely new direction.
Given that its storyline was unique, Arcane was initially considered part of another universe until Riot Games decided to include its storyline into the official lore.
Critically acclaimed, Arcane boasts a perfect 100% critic score and a 96% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Most viewers went into it not knowing it was based on a video game and enjoyed the great storyline and beautiful visuals.
During the announcement of Season 2 of the series, an exciting reveal made its way that Riot would add champions inspired by Arcane to League of Legends. So far, the first confirmed champion is Ambessa Medarda, but leaks have suggested more are on the way.
Mel Medarda rumoured as next Arcane champion
Recent leaks hinted at the inclusion of Arcane's iconic Mel Medarda into the game. The leak first started when Riot accidentally included her name in a player survey.
Many fans believed Mel's fate was sealed by the explosive Season 1 ending, but it now seems her glowing golden tattoos saved her. These tattoos have suspected ties to being a source of her powers, and they've shown up in a recent leak of Teamfight Tactics assets, too, suggesting their relevance.
Popular League of Legends leaker Big Bad Bear theorizes this may be due to Mel's abilities being focused on 'defensive builds of magic', giving the game a fresh twist in terms of meta gameplay.
Riot has yet to confirm her kit or gameplay, but excitement is high for when she might release. If these rumors prove true, Mel Medarda's arrival could be a huge game-changer for League of Legends, bringing together in one place all the fans of both the show and the game.
