eFootball PES developer and publisher Konami are the best selling third-party publisher in Japan in 2020. Konami managed to overtake Square Enix and Bandai Namco who finished the year in second and third place, respectively.
The Japanese game developers and publishers have released some spectacular games over the last couple of years and 2020 is no different. Square Enix launched their PlayStation 5 exclusive Final Fantasy VII Remake, which was well-received by both critics and fans of the franchise.
In addition to the FF VII Remake, we also got Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Persona 5 and Resident Evil 3: Remake. All these games have been some of the most popular releases of the year but it interesting that neither Square Enix nor Capcom are the best-selling publishers in Japan.
Instead, eFootball PES developer and publisher Konami have managed to take the crown as the best selling third-party publisher in Japan of 2020 thanks to their Switch title Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban!.
