Square Enix' Kingdom Hearts 3 will visit the world of Monsters Inc. and Tangled. Sora, Goofy and Donald end up transformed into monsters. Series creator Tetsuya Nomura teased that the final part of the game includes something he's "always wanted to do in Kingdom Hearts".

According to the latest chatter about the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3, the game will feature the world of Monsters Inc. This is the second Pixar franchise to be added to Square Enix' upcoming game.

The addition of Monsters Inc. was announced at D23 Expo in Japan. The world will feature Sora, Goofy and Donald who have been turned into monsters. While in their new forms, the trio will meet Sulley, Mike and Boo.

A new gameplay trailer also revealed the return of Marluxia and Vanitas. Both were antagonists in previous Kingdom Hearts titles. Marluxia mentions that he is part of a "New" Organization XIII, the league of antagonists from previous games.

Other news that came out of the conference are that the Gummi Ship sections will now be split into "open-world style" exploration phases and battle phases. Attendants have also been treated to a glimpse of a new mini-game which looked as if it's imitating the style of Game & Watch games.

Tangled's Rapunzel also made an appearance. She was shown as a party character, exploring a city environment and using her hair to attack and traverse the world.

Series creator Tetsuya Nomura teased that the final part of the game includes something he's "always wanted to do in Kingdom Hearts". A new theme song is also in the works. The tune is called "Don't Think Twice" and it's by series veteran Hikaru Utada.

Kingdom Hearts 3 still doesn't have a set release date.
