Highly-anticipated Xbox exclusive South of Midnight has added a prominent actor Ahmed Best to its cast, judging by the recent Instagram posts from the actor himself and the game's producer.
Best, who is known for playing Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars films and Kelleran Beq in the recent The Mandalorian series, posted a photo on Instagram that shows him in a specialised motion capture suit. The photo includes a bunch of Star Wars hashtags but also one stating "activision", which led people to believe that Best is doing mocap for a Star Wars skin in Call of Duty or an unannounced new Star Wars game from Activision.
However, we closely inspected his recent posts and stories and discovered that Best was at the Activision studio with South of Midnight Producer Anamaria Musca. So, putting two and two together, it seems very likely that Ahmed Best is doing mocap for Compulsion Games' upcoming title at the Activision mocap stage.
If you think that's not enough proof, we have even more clues that pretty much confirm he is indeed working on South of Midnight. Best posted this photo a while back and once again, the image features very interesting hashtags including "Microsoft "compulsiongames" "xbox". From this, it's quite obvious that Best is involved in the game.
At the moment, we don't know the scope of Best's role in South of Midnight but it would not surprise us if he is one of the biggest characters in the game's story. Certainly, it will be interesting to see if he takes the role of someone who is friendly towards the main protagonist or even a villain. Time will tell.
We have contacted Ahmed Best for a comment regarding his involvement in the South of Midnight project and will update this article if he responds.
South of Midnight has been officially announced in 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. It's an action-adventure, following a young black female called Hazel, who has the ability to mend the magic of broken bonds and spirits. South of Midnight is, as the name suggests, set in the American South and is inspired by Southern folklore.
