So, the original PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn has been pulled from the Epic Games Store, leaving only the more expensive remastered version as an option for users.
Sony's already made a few unpopular decisions about Horizon Zero Dawn before and after announcing the remaster: They first pulled the original from PS Plus Extra subscription, then doubled the price of the upgrade to prevent players from upgrading the much cheaper PS4 version to the PS5 remaster.
And Now, they've taken another action in relation to this that has rankled some players.
The original Horizon Zero Dawn was just pulled from sale on the Epic Games Store, a month before the remaster releases. For the time being, it remains available on Steam, but the chances of this one also getting pulled from there is really high.
Why is that a problem? It all boils back down to the unpopular necessity for PC players to log into PSN, which will be in place for the remaster but wasn't necessary in the original.
That means players who haven't bought the original Horizon on PC yet will have only the remaster. Worse still, if they happen to live in a country where PSN isn't supported, they won't be able to play it at all.
The game is also available on GOG, DRM-free, and will likely remain there even after it gets pulled from Steam.
However, the purchase of the GOG version does not grant players the ability to upgrade it to its remastered edition with new graphics. Once more, this is tied to the PSN login required for the remastered edition.
