Blizzard have officially rolled out Hearthstone's Lunar New Year event, which comes with a fresh new Tavern Brawl, themed quests and some rewards too. And the dev really did a clever job in basing it on the Chinese Zodiac.
While it would be easy to assume that by insisting on the Lunar New Year naming Blizzard are merely trying to bury with Blitzchung and Hearthstone, it would also ignore that China isn't the only country celebrating this holiday.
Onto jollier topics then, and they don't come much jollier than how Hearthstone's dev tied the Tavern Brawl to the Chinese Zodiac.
Hearthstone's new Tavern Brawl lets players choose a class and get a random deck. However, they get to pick three different Blessings that carry over into the game and bring various advantages.
As you can see, the Blessing of the Rat card lets you bestow Reborn on minions that cost 3 or less, which fits in with the resourceful trait of the Chinese Zodiac rat. We're not sure about kindness though - don't seem very pacifistic to us.
Blessing of the Ox fits in with the strong trait of the horoscope oxen and your minions get +3 health when summoned. In the same vein, Blessing of the Tiger grants your Hearthstone minions +1 attack.
While not a big believer in horoscopes, I can personally say I'm loving what Blizzard did with the Rooster. His blessing deals 2 damage to a random enemy each time your Hearthstone champion uses his hero power. Can I get this one in real life? Blizz, please?
"During the event, you’ll also have the opportunity to complete eight different special themed quests, each one rewarding both gold and dust! These also start January 29th, so don't miss out", they wrote on .
