The creators of Half-Life 2: Update, a fan-made patch that introduced many visual upgrades, are working on further visual improvements for Half-Life 2 and the episodes, with Valve's consent.
Filip Victor, the man behind Half-Life 2: Update, released his project back in 2015, adding enhanced lighting, more detailed world shadows, HDR, new particle effects and much much more. The update certainly gave the game a much needed visual lift and by the looks of it, it's time for another big project, that would remaster Half-Life 2 and the Episodes.
According to SteamDB , the developer of Half-Life 2: Update, is working on a further update that is supported by Valve. Apparently, it's a Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection that would include all the episodes.
As you can see on the SteamDB listing, the project even has an icon that states "Half-Life 2 Remastered".
The existence of the project has also been confirmed by Valve leaker Tyler McVicker, who stated that the update is indeed legit and it's developed by Filip Victor.
"I have been able to confirm this project's legitimacy, being made by the former Half-Life 2: Update team. Report incoming," McVicker tweeted.
At the moment, we do not have any additional details about the Half-Life 2 Remastered project. The release date is unknown but now that the update appeared on SteamDB it's possible that we'll get more info in the coming days or weeks.
