Forza Horizon 4 has been repeatedly shifting into higher gears since it launched and the beginning of 2019 has brought another great news for Playground Games and Microsoft's racing game, as it managed to hit 7 million players so far.
The developer took to Twitter to announce the news, writing, "What a start to 2019! One month after the launch of the Fortune Island expansion, we're celebrating the more than 7 million people who have played Forza Horizon 4 since launch. Thank you, Forza fans!"
By now, there's little doubt that Playground's decision to have the game take place in the UK was the right one, as the company clearly stated that it imbued Forza Horizon 4 with . Not to mention potholes, which seemed to be on everyone's mind once the game's setting was confirmed.
Fortune Island, the game's landed on 13 December 2018 and it bears the title of the biggest expansion for a Forza Horizon game so far. Granted, Fortune Island has not been immune to criticism, nor has Forza Horizon 4 itself for that matter, but judging by the numbers alone, the game has established itself as one of the best, if not the best, Forza Horizon game to date.
And indeed, when it comes to numbers, Forza Horizon 4 is killing it, with the game's first week in retail resulting in almost copies sold. Microsoft's subscription services, however, boosted this number to 2 million players, all of whom bought 74.4 million cars and rode 1.32 million kilometres
When it comes to reviews, Forza Horizon 4 has once again done much better than most of its predecessors and Playground games are proud owners of the Xbox exclusive in this generation.
Microsoft
That being said, it could be argued that the only serious competition for the title of the highest rated Xbox exclusive in this gen was Rare's Sea of Thieves, but it doesn't make it less impressive. Add to that the fact that we're comparing an open-world adventure to an open-world racing game and you get the picture.
