Epic Games have a mixed bag of news for Fortnite: Save the World players as the game is leaving Early Access but will have decreased support from now on.
"Today we're bringing Save the World out of Early Access and have decided that it will remain a premium experience rather than going free-to-play. Development of new content will slow down after this official release, but the adventure doesn't end here for Save the World", they wrote in the announcement.
Fortnite: Save the World's founders will have their Founder's Packs upgraded to the next level, which will unlock all the associated rewards, free of charge. Moreover, owners of the Ultimate Edition will be given a new Metal Team Leader Pack along with a stack of 8,000 V-Bucks.
Fortnite: Battle Royale and Creative are also getting the Early Access label removed, but moving forward, Save the World and BR cosmetics may not play well.
"Over the coming months Save the World will no longer be able to support all upcoming Fortnite Battle Royale cosmetic purchases, but your existing library of cosmetics will continue to function in both modes. We'll let everyone know via the Homebase Status Report when this change will take place", Epic wrote.
Epic are introducing Ventures, season-long excursions set in a seasonal zone, with new modifiers in play. Each season will have its own progression and seasonal levels, while the difficulty will scale with your seasonal experience.
"As we roll out Ventures, we’re shifting to an annual recurring seasonal schedule where existing in-game narratives and events, such as Frostnite and Dungeons, will continue on a seasonal rotation unique to Save the World and separate from Battle Royale", the studio said.
Fortnite: Save the World's library of heroes, schematics and questlines will rotate through seasons, and while there will be new quests and heroes, they will be coming in at a "slower pace".
To compensate, Epic are releasing new Save the World packs, starting with the Metal Team Leader Pack, whose cosmetics will be available across Battle Royale and Creative.
