Epic Games has added a new feature to block all confrontational emotes in Fortnite for the first time since the game's launch.

Fortnite has been known for its unique collection of emotes since its launch. There are hundreds of emotes in the game, starting from iconic celebrations to trending dances with songs from popular artists.

While most emotes are generally harmless, a few stand out due to their excessive use by sweats and tryhards in Fortnite. These emotes are deemed confrontational by Epic Games. Until the recent update, there were no features to stop these emotes from being used.

However, since Epic Games' movement towards a more family-friendly environment in Fortnite for the past few years, there have been many changes to different in-game items. With the latest update, Fortnite players are receiving the ability to block confrontational emotes.

In the recent update for Fortnite, Epic Games added a feature that allows players to block all confrontational emotes in the game.

The most recent tweet discusses the reason behind these changes by stating, "We want emotes to be a source of good vibes, but a few (*cough* Take the L *cough*) can sometimes feel a bit overly confrontational. Tomorrow's update will introduce a new Confrontational Emotes setting to toggle visibility on these Emotes."

With the new feature, the See Confrontational Emotes setting applies to these four emotes:

  • Laugh It Up
  • Take the L
  • Whipcrack
  • Make It Plantain

The new setting can be found under “Social Privacy” and will default to only showing these Emotes from friends in the player's party. Players can change this setting at any time, so they can see these emotes from any player or not at all.

While this setting is a movement towards a more friendly gaming environment in Fortnite, most players and streamers have heavily criticised the addition of this new feature. However, players who want to avoid all forms of toxicity during their time in Fortnite can heavily benefit from the new block confrontational emotes feature.
