Bethesda may not support mods for Fallout 76, but that hasn't stopped the modding community from making them. Just hours after Fallout 76 beta launch on PC, mods are popping up left and right on Nexus Mods, although they are minor in scale.
Despite Bethesda's unwillingness to provide mod support in Fallout 76 from get go, even though it's one of the most loved features of their games, modding community has proven once again they can make the wasteland in question a better place.
Since Fallout 76 is a multiplayer game without official mod support, the modders can only get so far, and therefore the mods that popped up on Nexus Mods are just texture changes, visual effects and UI optimisation that will be apparent only on the user's PC. These mods will have no impact on any other Appalachia enthusiasts.
The texture mods so far include Hairspray that can offer more hair colours for the player character and a black version of the vault suit. Other mods have Vault Boy icon changes on main menu, including one that makes the icon look like Donald Trump. It actually looks just like a Vault Boy in a suit, but Bethesda games have often seen joke modes, some of which saw so much success to become legends.
There are mods that are actually helpful as well though, and modders once again came to rescue when Bethesda dropped the ball in some game aspects. For example, there is a mod that when playing on 21:9 ratio ultra wide monitors.
As in games before, ini file tweaks were unavoidable, with one mod presumably without sacrificing graphics that much. Another mod simply in order to boot up the game faster.
Bethesda
Bear in mind that all these mods popped up even though the beta session was rather limited, so this is kind of a shout out to the folks putting their work on . They modded a game with no mod support and did so in style.
