EVE: Valkyrie - Warzone is now out for PlayStation 4 and PC. The game can be played with or without a VR headset. This makes it the "first fully cross-platform, cross-reality videogame" says the press release.
"EVE: Valkyrie was born in virtual reality and is now reborn for everyone" said Andrew Willans, Lead Game Designer at CCP’s Newcastle Studio. "With the introduction of Warzone, it’s a great time for all players to get involved in the gritty-but-glorious celestial arenas of EVE: Valkyrie."
"Breaking down barriers is a big part of what keeps us on the forefront of the gaming industry," said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. "The evolution of EVE: Valkyrie to EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone brings the thrill of the playing this first-person spaceship shooter to its highest level of inclusiveness."
EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone puts you in the cockpit of heavily armed spaceships, and then enables you to fly and fight alongside each other - for better or worse. This can be done in virtual reality or your lesser one.
The game includes all the content and improvements released for EVE: Valkyrie since launch. Also, it introduces a next-generation fleet of ships - including the new Covert class ship, “Shadow”. Each ship will have its own role to play in the battle. Next, they just can't let you go out there without some new weapons. This includes the powerful Ultra abilities and a fully redesigned progression system for each ship.
New to EVE: Valkyrie - Warzone is the ‘Extraction’ game mode that puts capture-the-flag in outer space. The expansion also features two new maps, “Fleet” and “Outpost,” as well as some fresh Wormholes that introduce a new challenge each week. Players will be given a chance to fight for Spoils of War in order to earn Loot Capsules (at least it's not the B word). The Capsules will enable them to unlock a "hangar-full of personalization options for their ships and pilot" says the press release.
New players can EVE: Valkyrie - Warzone for around £22 via the PlayStation Store, Steam and Oculus Home. All current EVE: Valkyrie owners will receive the game as a free mandatory upgrade. This will expand the base game to become EVE: Valkyrie - Warzone. Once the upgrade is applied, the pilots can choose to play the game with or without a VR headset.
