Bandai Namco and Arc System Works are rolling out an update for DragonBall FighterZ on 9 May 2018 that will bring two new game modes - FighterZ Cup and Party Battle. The update also includes many gameplay improvements and balance changes.

FighterZ Cup will be a competition mode that will pit players against each other in order to win points for their respective Z-Union. Bandai Namco didn't state how and if Z-Unions will get any new bonuses or progression. Party Battle will be the co-op mode where up to three players can play together in order to defeat "fearsome bosses".

Recorded data from Replay Channel will be erased when the update hits in order to enable implementation of a fix regarding Goku's Kamehameha and Warp Kamehameha. The dust particles that would appear due to Goku performing his signature move kept appearing if the game got paused by the opponent's super attack. This issue will be fixed with the update, but sadly at the cost of players' recent replay saves. Therefore, it would be advised to record any replays with recording software such as Nvidia's ShadowPlay before the update lands.

Combo Challenge had a lingering issue that created a gap between when the timer would start and when the game would allow inputs when performing position reset in a combo challenge.

Training mode is riddled with issues but most, if not all should be addressed with this update. One such issue was when the training dummy wouldn't guard and unguard properly when the settings were set to Guard First Only. Certain unconnected strings of moves would also prevent the training dummy from regenerating health and inputs wouldn't play out properly when using Ginyu's Body Change. Both of these issues will be resolved with the update.

The list of changes, bug fixes and other issues that are going to be resolved with this update is simply massive and can't fit into a regular article. Meanwhile, Bandai Namco have forced it into a single Facebook post which you can see .
