Bethesda and id Software posted the first teaser of Doom Eternal's upcoming expansion The Old Gods, announcing the full trailer reveal for August 27, 2020.

We're talking about Gamescom Opening Night Live, of course, where the dev will debut the full reveal trailer for Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods.

"You are here to restore order to my world, but the demons in understand the threat they pose to all my creations", is literally the transcript of the teaser, although we can't say id Software didn't pique our curiosity.

The name of the expansion and the above quote clearly indicate there's some ungodly (or godly depending on how you look at it) business going on here. No need to worry if you don't care for Doom Eternal's lore - you'll have plenty of demons to kill.

"Your victory over Hell’s armies pulled humanity back from the edge of extinction, but it came at a cost. An imbalance of power in the heavens requires the true ruler of this universe to rise and set things right. Wage war across never-before-seen realms of the DOOM Universe and fight against new demons in your never-ending battle against the forces of evil", the teaser's description reads.

We were hoping we'll get to see more of Doom Eternal's new expansion on QuakeCon, but The Ancient Gods will have to wait for Gamescom to learn their fate.

QuakeCon at Home, as it's called this year for obvious reasons, will have plenty of Doom Eternal action though, with speedruns, Invitational Finals and so on. You can find the full three-day schedule on the event's official Twitter profile .
