Blizzard and Nintendo have finally released the expected announcement trailer of Diablo III Eternal Collection for Switch, which will include the base game, Rise of the Necromancer content pack as well as Reaper of Souls expansion pack.
This info confirms the previous leak that happened when Forbes let the cat out of the bag a bit too early was indeed true. The rest was also good info. For example, multiplayer will be available whether up to four people play on the same Switch or they connect wirelessly on four devices, or they play it online, like everyone else.
One takeaway is that these new multiplayer options will support playing on a single Joy-Con, but it remains to be seen whether four people on one device will be too crowded.
Diablo III will be playable off-line so the on-the-go idea will live to the fullest, and to top it off, any progress made off-line will be uploaded the next time the Switch goes online so it will not be for nothing.
As we mentioned in the leak article, Nintendo Switch will have some exclusive items in the game, such as Legend of Ganondorf cosmetic armour, Tri-Force portrait frame, a Chicken pet and cosmetic wings named Echoes of the Mask.
There will be no cross-platform support when the game launches but Blizzard will apparently look into enabling it in the future. It probably depends on how profitable it could turn out to be.
According to Pete Stilwell, senior producer at Blizzard, there may be more of their games coming to Switch in the future as he stated that Diablo III "was a great way to ease back into the pool and explore the technology and get an understanding of it".
Blizzard
At this point this is just speculation, but even if more Blizzard games do happen on Switch, don't expect World of Warcraft to be among them. I mean even keyboard+mouse users tend to run out of viable buttons for all the hotkeys, imagine what it would be like on a Joy-Con.
