Warmind will add more weapons and general story content as well as change up the Crucible. This could well be Bungie's last chance to fix what they've previously done. Not to say Destiny 2 is bad, it's just not what they initially promised.

A recent developer stream by Bungie revealed details about the next expansion for Destiny 2, titled Warmind. The stream detailed new exotic weapons and armour, some of which are old faces back from Destiny 1. Warmind is set on Mars and has players fixing the carnage Warmind Rasputin seems to be causing throughout the solar system.

Rasputin was mentioned in a few Destiny 1 missions but it was all shrouded in mistery. The new zone players will be landing on is the polar Hellas Basin. Hopefully, it doesn't end up as tiny as the previous DLC.

Another thing the stream focused on heavily was the Escalation Protocol. It's a new public event only available once players complete the campaign. They can also join their friends who already started the event, even if they didn't play through the story.

Escalation Protocol is Bungie's promise to players, in the sense that it offers replayability with supposed constant rewards. Whether those rewards will be just Uncommon weapons or a chance to grind out an Exotic weapon is unclear.

A new weapon type will be available as a pick-up only - The Valkyrie. It's a spear that doubles up as a melee and ranged weapon for a limited time after pick-up.

The next thing Bungie referred to is the Crucible and how the team went about improving it. They will be adding a Valor system which goes up once players finish PvP matches, regardless of whether they win or lose.

Glory, however, is a competitive only stat which fluctuates with a player's wins and losses, with winning streaks granting more Glory subsequently.

One could argue the Warmind expansion is Bungie's last chance to hold onto the game's dwindling playerbase, not to mention any semblance of dignity. Either way, we'll know soon enough.
