Voice actor Troy Baker has shared pictures of his two characters from Final Fantasy 13 and Death Stranding. Baker captioned the pictures with hashtag "2009vs2019" suggesting that Hideo Kojima's new game is scheduled for 2019 release.
Death Stranding is getting closer and closer to its release date according to video game voice actor Troy Baker who is voicing one of the game's mysterious characters. Baker took part in a Twitter challenge that requires users to share photos from 10 years ago and compare them to their most recent ones.
Instead of comparing photos of himself, Baker chose to share pictures of characters he voiced, picking Final Fantasy 13's Snow Villiers and a still unnamed Death Stranding character. He captioned the post with a "2009vs2019" hashtag followed by a question mark.
Of course, this was more than enough to start another round of speculation about the potential release date. Fans started flooding him with questions, asking if he's confirming the release of Kojima's new title in 2019. But Baker didn't really bother to reply and he probably thinks his tease was just enough to connect some dots.
At the end of 2018, Hideo Kojima also teased a 2019 release date in Japanese video game magazine Famitsu. In his special message, Kojima wished everyone a happy new year and added "Is 2019 the year of the Whale? Please look forward to Death Stranding!".
Another thing that fuels speculation about the release date is further tease by Hideo Kojima which came shortly after the game's announcement back in 2016. He said that Death Stranding will release before the year Akira is set. If you're unfamiliar with this cyberpunk classic, Akira is set in 2019, and by the looks of it, Death Stranding already missed the planned release date which was apparently set for 2018.
This again is a strong suggestion that Death Stranding could indeed release by the end of the year and hopefully, Hideo Kojima shares more info on the subject in the upcoming months.
