Bend Studio's PlayStation 4 exclusive Days Gone is off to a really great start in the UK. Having beaten Mortal Kombat 11 with ease, Deacon's adventures even came in the vicinity of God of War sales, which is actually a pretty great result.
Days Gone ended up selling 27 per cent slower than God of War in its first week, but several factors make this a huge win
First of all, Days Gone is a brand new IP, so Bend Studio deserves every bit of credit, as the game didn't have the privilege of building on an already established legacy as Kratos did.
NetherRealm's fighter Mortal Kombat 11 did enough to win second place, but its physical sales are lagging behind Mortal Kombat X from 2015. This, however, can be quite misleading as the results don't account for digital sales, which are slowly but surely taking over.
Mortal Kombat 11has sold best on PS4, with as much as 71 per cent copies sold in camp Sony. FIFA 19 held steady for the most part, but it had to slide one place to accommodate the newcomers.
As you can see quite a few exclusives on the chart, which indicates that console exclusives are the last bastion of boxed sales. The remainder of the UK's physical sales chart is as follows:
- Days Gone
- Mortal Kombat 11
- FIFA 19
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Tom Clancy's The Division 2
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
- Forza Horizon 4
