CDPR's studio head Adam Badowski recently stressed that Cyberpunk 2077's launch has been far from disastrous, but seeing it discounted this early is concerning.
The good news is that Cyberpunk 2077 can be yours for as low as $30, more than half off of the original price. The bad news is that most of the discounts are for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, which at the moment seem like long-term investments.
Amazon offers discounts on Cyberpunk 2077's PC edition as well, which is a bit peculiar since the game ran pretty fine on PCs. Moreover, getting discounted one month into the release is not exactly common for triple-A blockbusters, and it doesn't sound like the game that sold more than 13 million copies.
Cyberpunk 2077's sales figures suggested CDPR developed the best thing ever made, but we're not sure how many ended up refunding the game. Consoles are a significant and more importantly, lucrative market, which the company counted with. Well, at least in terms of profits.
Badowski recently said that multiple 9/10 and 10/10 scores for PC editions of Cyberpunk 2077 don't quite support the qualifications of a "disastrous" launch, and we'd agree. When put in perspective, however, it was quite an anticlimactic conclusion to a difficult year, and it didn't help that everyone and their dog were waiting for it.
Ultimately though, CDPR and Cyberpunk 2077 should be fine, even more so when PS4 and Xbox One performance of the game exceeds insultingly low levels. They wouldn't be the first to get back into the public's good graces through hard work, so here's to the upcoming updates.
