Kalypso Media will be launching their two long-awaited remasters, Commandos 2 and Praetorians, later today, on 24 January 2020. Both games are already on Steam along with system specs, can be wishlisted but there are a few hours to go before purchases can roll in.
Pyro Studios are the developers behind the remasters, along with Torus Games and Yippee! Entertainment while Kalypso Media are publishing both Praetorians and Commandos 2 HD Remasters. Each game can be purchased separately on Steam or in a bundle on Kalypso Store .
For those not yet initiated, Commandos 2 is a classic from a bygone era when the challenge was welcomed in the games and Dark Souls would be considered a regular Tuesday. In this title, the player takes control of a squad of commandos during World War 2, each of whom has their own abilities and loadouts. They can control them separately or as a group but most of the missions have to be done covertly since German soldiers tend to vaporise your guys in a spectacularly quick manner.
Meanwhile, Praetorians is more along the lines of a regular RTS since you will be taking control of a bigger number of Roman troops as they work on their military campaign across Egypt, Gaul and even the empire itself. If you hadn't guessed already, there are political underlinings in Praetorians and there is more at stake than just conquering foreign land.
Unfortunately, the prices for each game were not listed at the time of writing but system requirements were. They are not particularly high, which is semi expected since these are remasters of games that are almost two decades old.
Commandos 2 will run with a 4th gen Intel i3 processor or any quad-core AMD chipset with 3.9 GHz frequency or higher. Minimum requirement for GPU is lower as Nvidia GTX 570 or AMD Radeon HD 6950 will suffice along with 6GB RAM.
Praetorians will run even on dual-core processors, such as Intel i3-2320 or AMD equivalent. GPU requirement is anything with 2GB VRAM so the choice is really today. Only 4GB RAM is necessary in this case.
