Petroglyph saw success with the launch of Command & Conquer Remastered Collection but they are not done supporting the game just yet as the recent patch added new features and dealt with headaches.
Stuttering has been an annoyance in C&C Remastered ever since its release and Jim Vessella admitted that the issue has been a complex one. It has been dealt with now but there are some tradeoffs. Namely, the problem lied with texture loading apparently and the devs solved the issue by pushing more textures into being loaded before getting into gameplay.
Longer loading screens are an obvious tradeoff there since this is where more textures will be handled now. Furthermore, loading the first map might take longer than it did before.
One interesting feature that has been added with the patch is the ability to host private game lobbies which will be a great addition for those who want to game with a group of friends or under their own rules. In case they want the lobby to be truly private, the hosts can use a four-digit passcode. If the host invites someone, that player doesn't need to enter the passcode.
There will be an option for hosts to check the "Private Game" box if they want to go down this road but these games will still show in Join Lobby list, albeit with a different icon.
The not-so-great news about the patch is that the modders will need to update their mods but this happens with pretty much any game and its updates. Until then, the mods will not be compatible with C&C Remastered.
