Modern Warfare 3 marks a notable shift in the Call of Duty franchise, with a consecutive release, deviating from the traditional two-year gap between titles.
Developed by Sledgehammer Games in collaboration with Infinity Ward and Treyarch, MW3's campaign continues the MW2 saga while delivering a revamped multiplayer experience.
MW3's movement system will undergo a comprehensive overhaul, promising faster gameplay compared to MW2. The key movement changes include the return of Slide Canceling and the introduction of a new Tac-Stance mechanic.
Slide Cancel returns
Slide Canceling, a beloved movement feature, reappears in MW3. Unlike its removal after MW 2019's release, this time, it's here to stay.
The developers have heeded players' requests for its return, albeit with some balancing adjustments. What to expect:
- Slide Canceling is back but won't reset Tactical Sprint.
- Partial Reloads during animations can be canceled for quicker return fire.
- Mantling is faster, allowing Sprinting while doing so.
- Firing during and after Sliding is possible.
- Tactical Sprint duration increases.
- Tactical Sprint recharges during regular Sprinting.
New Tac-Stance mechanic
MW3 introduces the Tac-Stance mechanic, bridging the gap between hip-fire and aiming down sights.
This feature is particularly handy in tight spaces, enhancing weapon performance for close-quarter combat. What Tac-Stance entails:
- Operators shoulder their weapon differently, holding it in a canted firing position.
- Players can dynamically switch in and out of Tac-Stance while aiming.
- Tac-Stance sacrifices some accuracy for improved mobility and handling.
- Firing in Tac-Stance falls between full ADS and hipfire, making it ideal for close-quarters.
- While Sliding, players default to firing in Tac-Stance.
