Loot is one of the driving factors in Borderlands games and winter holidays are bringing just that - loot presents in the form of Gold Skeleton Keys.
Randy Pitchford periodically posts a SHiFT code or two that lets Borderlands players grab a few pieces of pretty great loot via the Golden Keys that can be used in various hubs, depending on the game you're playing. In this case, he released another code for three keys that can be used in Borderlands 3.

As per usual, the code can be redeemed either in-game or the official page dedicated to the SHiFT codes . The latter is more covenient if you are outside or can't get access to your gaming platform - just grab your smartphone, go to the site, log in and paste the code in. You will find the keys the next time you log in.
As for actually using the keys, that is entirely at your discretion, just keep in mind that the chest will award gear that is at your level so you might want to save the keys up for later, in case the rarity of your stuff degrades a little bit down the line.
