Battlestate Games have announced a pretty big change that is coming to Escape from Tarkov and players are torn. The change will be affecting armour, armour hitboxes and armour plates.
The new Armour Plate System will offer different levels of protection armor plates that can be replaced and have a hitbox exclusive to them, meaning it only covers its exact area. In essence they are creating an additional hitbox.
Lookwise, the armour plates will be similar to those on Warzone 1 and 2 but their purpose will have a bit more to it.The area that is not covered by the plate will take more damage, meaning that it is less protected or completely exposed. The plate carrier itself will have its own protection level that will be considerably lower than that of an armour plate.
While this new Armour Plate System will give the game a more realistic feel with the different areas and levels of protection, it will also make certain armours considerably less effective, potentially breaking the game and making players shy away from playing it.
Ultimately the armors with better all round protection should skyrocket in price, while plate carriers with no soft armor around the plate should become cheap as chips because the protected area will be reduced by 50% or more.
We are sure that these changes will be revisited a few times and probably readjusted and tweaked some more once players voice their opinions and speak out on what they like and dislike.
