Star Wars: Battlefront II will be launching without a season pass scheme. Bernd Diemer, DICE creative director for the project has confirmed this ahead of the official announcement.
EA and DICE's Battlefront reboot launched light on content and had a fragmented community throughout its lifecycle, owing to diminishing returning player numbers that weren't helped at all by the game's season pass deal.
Poor user reviews and a general reception amounting to little more than a shrug seem to have brought EA to the point where they are forced to reconsider some of their policies. Berd Diemer, creative director for Battlefront II, has confirmed in an interview for that the sequel won't be having a season pass scheme for its DLC.

"We don't have a season pass," Diemer said. "When we looked at the way Battlefront had evolved over its lifetime, with the DLC and everything, we decided, 'You know what? For this type of game, season passes are not the best thing." Simple enough, right? Well, no, because EA decided to muddle the waters with some PR speak of their own, following Diemer's statement. "While we’re not ready to confirm any live service plans just yet, what we can say is this we heard the feedback from our Battlefront community loud and clear. We know they want more depth, more progression, and more content. So we’re focused on delivering that in every dimension of Star Wars Battlefront II."

The next Battlefront might not be getting season pass, but this doesn't mean that DLC will be skipped altogether. While you take in the official trailer for the game above, which got released over the weekend following a leak, consider the fact that user behaviour indeed managed to influence EA's business practises. Players voted against convoluted sales schemes and a drip-feed approach to content delivery with the language of their time and wallets - a language EA clearly understands.
