It looks like Netflix are aiming to convert the most exciting video game IPs into live series, and their deal with Ubisoft is likely to hit the spot of Assassin's Creed fans.
Assassin's Creed's last moment of movie fame didn't exactly go down well with all the critics, although it did fairly well at the box office.
This time around, however, Ubisoft are casting a pretty wide net. As reported by Variety, they're gunning for at least one series, with the live-action one already being in the works.
If you're more interested in a different sort of Assassin's Creed flavour, then worry not because Ubisoft have you covered. Namely, the deal between Ubisoft and Netflix includes live-action, animated and anime series, so you'll get to pick your poison.
"From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy", Netflix's vice president of original series Peter Friedlander said.
Ubisoft are quite thrilled with the deal as well, thanking the fans for their role in helping the Assassin's Creed brand reach global popularity and notch up more than 155 million copies of various titles across the franchise.
With the success of various video game IPs in Netflix's live-series adaptations, it's safe to say that we're likely to see more and more games turned into live series.
In fact, Ubisoft have already teamed up with Netflix on Splinter Cell anime series, as well as The Division movie, which has Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role.
