2XKO officially launches on January 20, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series and PC

Riot Games has confirmed that 2XKO will leave Early Access and launch as a free-to-play fighting game on January 20, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Riot Games has set a release date for 2XKO, its free-to-play fighting game in the League of Legends universe. First teased over two years ago, the tag-based fighter has been in Early Access for several months, but now has a full release on the way. 2XKO will launch on January 20, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The new trailer, which briefly showed the launch date before going private, confirms that 2XKO will leave Early Access and release on its own for the first time on January 20, 2026. For players who have been following the game for years, it will be a major milestone to see 2XKO make its way to launch after a protracted development.

Final version of 2XKO will land in January 2026

After first entering Early Access on PC in October 2025, 2XKO is quickly making its way to consoles with the launch version of the game. This puts a hard date on what was a constantly evolving early game, as the developers take Riot’s version of a fighting game and polish it for a general release.

Over the course of Early Access, players have had a chance to get hands-on with the team-based combat. As players have gained an understanding of the combat systems, characters, and how balance works, the developers have refined and iterated on balance, pacing, and feel to get 2XKO to this point.

What’s in the 2XKO release?

The most notable part of this release is that 2XKO will be coming to consoles for the first time. The addition of Xbox Series X|S and PS5, on top of the base PC release, will mean much more players will have access to the game on the day of release.

2XKO is built around two-versus-two combat, with each player controlling both members of their team either solo or as a duo with a friend. This emphasis on tag mechanics allows for plenty of fluidity in each match, with partners swapping quickly between offense and defense, calling in assists, and extending each others’ combos.

The teams themselves will have some variety between them, with the Fuse system giving players modifiers that alter the team’s abilities in small ways. This adds some flavor to each match, letting players mix up strategies rather than feeling locked into one way of playing each match.

Key features:

  • Tag-based 2-on-2 fighting
  • Solo and duo play modes
  • Fuses modify teams
  • Ranked, casual, and private online lobbies
  • Roster of characters from LoL, reworked with new moves

Fans of the series can also expect to see all of the core combatants from League of Legends in 2XKO. The roster has been redesigned from the ground up for the fighting game genre, with new movesets designed around close-range combat, spacing, and combos.
