The Cursed Chasm is one of those quests in The Blood of Dawnwalker that's easy to overlook if you're not the exploring type. Follow the right path, however, and you'll uncover Knyaz Skender's lost treasure and eventually walk away with Durandal, a Level 15 Legendary Longsword.
The quest costs two Time Segments, and the enemies guarding the treasure can be brutally strong if you arrive too early. The difference between attempting it on Day 1 and coming back a little later is significant, so here's what to know before starting the quest.
Where to Find The Cursed Chasm
The quest starts at a broken bridge west of the Coward's Path Shrine, in the northwestern part of the Briar Sloughs fiefdom. From the Coward's Path Shrine, follow the path west until you come across the broken bridge. Investigate the area to start The Cursed Chasm.
Starting the quest costs two Time Segments. Upon inspecting the area, Coen realises that it leads to Knyaz Skender's lost treasure, but you'll need to find your own way down into the chasm.
The easiest way down is to use Vrakhir form and Clawride to descend the rocks. You can make your way down the cliffside without having to search for a conventional route into the chasm. The conventional way isn't complicated either, but Vrakhir form does have its benefits here. More on that below.
When I first attempted the quest at Level 8, the enemies guarding the treasure had red skulls above them, meaning they were significantly above my level and could kill Coen in a single attack. Coming back at Level 11, the same enemies were marked yellow and the fight was considerably more manageable.
How to Get Durandal
Once you reach the bottom of the chasm, you'll encounter a pack of wolves around the treasure. They'll attack you, but they're not the only enemies waiting down there. Soon after, supernatural enemies will appear, turning what initially looks like a straightforward wolf encounter into a much more dangerous fight.
Quick tip: Don't immediately kill every wolf. The wolves can sometimes aggro the supernatural enemies and fight alongside you. They won't do this consistently, but when they do, they can give you some much-needed breathing room. More importantly, the wolves give you something to use Voracious Bite on. If you time your bites properly, you can heal yourself while also avoiding or recovering from some of the supernatural enemies' attacks.
Once the enemies are defeated, search the area to find Durandal and the Treasure Map: Silver Cache. Durandal is a Level 15 Legendary Longsword, making it a particularly strong weapon for the early game.
Silver Cache
The Treasure Map: Silver Cache starts the Finders Keepers quest. Unlike Durandal, the Silver Cache isn't located in the Cursed Chasm.
Follow the map to a small cemetery hidden in the forest. From there, continue towards the purple marker on the image below until you reach the treasure site.
At the marked location, you'll find a spot where you can dig. Digging up the treasure rewards you with a Silver Cache Letter and several valuable silver items. The cache provides a useful amount of silver, which isn't an especially abundant material.
