The second tier of SpongeBob's outfits will be unlocked once you find four more doubloons. Here, we will show you where to find them.
After unlocking the first tier of costumes, you may notice that the number of doubloons has once again reset to zero. It means you will have to find more of these in order to unlock new outfits for our yellow square friend. To unlock the second tier, you will need to find four golden doubloons.
Due to a limitation in the gameplay mechanics at the start of the game, you will not be able to find all doubloons the first time you enter the level. For some of them, you will have to revisit levels later. The good news is that, despite being a linear game, the fast travel feature works perfectly, and you will be able to return to any checkpoint in the game as soon as you unlock it for the first time.
In order to unlock the second tier relatively early in the game, you will have to visit two new levels: Karate Downtown Bikini Bottom and Pirate Goo Lagoon.
Doubloon No. 1, Karate Downtown Bikini Bottom
The first golden doubloon you will be able to collect in the early stage of the game will come quite late in this level. After filming the first sequence of the movie in some sort of 2D style, you will come to the section where Squidward will tell SpongeBob to chase down his nemesis in order to film the next sequence. After speaking with Squidward, do not proceed to the next area, but rather jump on the floating blue crate to the left of where you are and then from the crate to the street lamps to the right of it, as shown in the image below.
Carefully jump from lamp to lamp and then slide down behind the fence where the next doubloon awaits. Don't forget to break all the crates while you are there, for you will need a lot of jelly to buy all the new outfits. You can exit this area by karate-kicking the door ahead of you.
Doubloon No. 2, Karate Downtown Bikini Bottom
Following the chase sequence with the monocycle, SpongeBob will arrive at a location where Squidward will instruct him to climb the tallest tower to reach his nemesis. Just after SpongeBob says, "Can I just use the elevator?" you'll see several breakable containers to the left of Squidward. DO NOT BREAK the containers; instead, climb on them and leap on the two blue floating crates from there. Jump over the next wall and slide down to the massive rock. Karate-kick multiple balloons until you reach the other side of the wall. After kicking the final balloon, slide rapidly to capture the second golden doubloon.
Doubloon No. 1, Pirate Goo Lagoon
One of the main objectives of this level will be to free some odd anchovies. After liberating the fourth, you'll be able to choose between two paths. Take the right one and swing over the pirate hooks to the battle with three standard jellies, a big jelly, and the one who throws goo at you. Deal with them all, avoiding the goo guy, and then proceed right and leap over the wooden platform to the wall consisting of red and grey boxes from where you landed in this section after the hook swings. Jump back quickly to avoid being struck by lightning and wait for the wall to be demolished.
Now, enter the cave whose entrance you just opened, and complete some parkour including karate-kicking balloons, hook swings, and collapsing platforms to reach the level's first doubloon. When you acquire this little coin, you will be respawned at the cave's entrance.
Doubloon No. 1, Pirate Goo Lagoon
Head straight from the Port Jelly Royale checkpoint, fighting the jellies along the way, until you see the jelly maker slightly to the right up the small hill. Continue there and beat him off, then turn around and go the other way till you reach the trampoline and the goo-throwing guy. Kill him and leap on the building ahead of you with the trampoline. Jump the gap over the blue floating boxes while evading cannon fire. Keep in mind that if a cannonball strikes you, you will tumble and have to start over. Reach the rooftop ahead of you, above the floating crates, to see stacked jelly crates with the second doubloon on top.
After collecting these four doubloons, the second tier of costumes will be unlocked. Again, four new costumes will be available for you to buy from the pause menu: Action Hero, Ghost, Deck Swabber, and Goofy Goober.
