Palworld, the latest and highly acclaimed survival game developed by Pocket Pair, is making waves as one of the biggest hits, despite being in beta and exclusively accessible on PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
The game's popularity is primarily driven by pals, creatures resembling Pokémon that play a versatile role in the survival process. They not only assist in various tasks crucial for survival but also serve additional functions such as aiding in battles or serving as a mode of transportation, topics we'll delve into further here.
If you're curious about how to enlist one of your pals as your mount, we've put together a guide that provides the answer to that question.
How to use pals as mounts
To ride Pals, the initial requirement is to have a suitable rideable Pal. While there are more options available in the game, we'll concentrate on the first one you encounter early on—Eikthyrdeer. Head from the spawn point towards the northwest to reach another fast-travel point, Grassy Behemoth Hills. You are likely to encounter Eikthyrdeer in that vicinity.
After capturing an Eikthyrdeer, return to your base and construct a Pal Gear Workbench. To do this, you need to attain at least level 6 and unlock the Pal Gear Workbench in the Technology tab. Once the workbench is built, you must reach level 12 to unlock the Eikthyrdeer Saddle, also available in the Technology tab.
Once you've unlocked the Eikthyrdeer Saddle, go to the Pal Gear Workbench and construct it. This will necessitate 5 leathers, 20 pieces of fiber, 10 ingots, 3 horns, and 15 palladium fragments. While the majority of these materials are familiar, the horns can be obtained by hunting certain pals, which can also serve as a food source.
Include Eikthyrdeer in your party and designate him by pressing left or right on the D-Pad. Press LB to toss him in front of you. Hold X when the prompt appears to mount the Pal. This not only enhances your movement speed but also allows you to utilise it for attacks—a very useful ability, to say the least.
And there you have it; this is how you can use one of your pals as a mount early in the game. If you found this guide useful, be sure to check out our other guides at the links below.
