Marvel Rivals: Cloak and Dagger 101

Let us begin with a rundown of Cloak and Dagger in Marvel Rivals. Cloak and Dagger are a hybrid Strategist character with the ability to take long and short-range fights. Here's a complete overview of Cloak and Dagger's move set:

Cloak's Abilities

  • Darkforce Cloak: His primary fire, Darkforce Cloak, is a channeled energy beam that deals high consecutive damage. This ability has infinite ammo and does not require to be aimed; Cloak will automatically attack the nearest enemy within its radius.
  • Dark TeleportationHis secondary fire, Dark Teleportation, creates a large energy field around Cloak that temporarily phases him and all nearby allies, making them invisible to enemies and immune to all damage and crowd control effects. Additional buffs when Cloak uses Dark Teleportation:
    • Cloak and his allies also gain movement speed while within the energy field.
    • Cloak gains a limited form of free-flight during this ability.
    • The invulnerability granted by this ability can even avoid Ultimates, such as Iron Man's Invincible Pulse Cannon, Psylocke's ultimate and Jeff the Land Shark's It's Jeff!
  • Terror Cape: Terror Cape creates a rectangular-shaped spell field that advances in a straight line along the cast path, obstructing enemy vision. Visually it looks similar to Dagger's Veil of Lightforce but dark-themed. This ability also inflicts enemies with the Vulnerability debuff, which amplifies all damage.

Dagger's Abilities

  • Lightforce Dagger: Her primary fire, Lightforce Dagger, is a quick projectile that bounces on terrain. This ability can both heal allies or damage enemies, and has a semi-tracking feature which will cause the projectile to hit the ally or enemy closest to the aiming reticle.
  • Dagger Storm: Her secondary fire, Dagger Storm, launches a projectile that creates a large bubble of light on impact, providing healing-over-time.
    • This is Dagger's primary tool of self-sustain.
    • This ability can be attached to any surface, including walls and ceilings.
    • The healing bubble persists even if the player switches to Cloak.
  • Veil of Lightforce: It creates a rectangular-shaped spell field that advances in a straight line along the cast path, healing all allies caught by it. This ability also provides a 15% healing bonus from all sources for 4 seconds when hitting allies.

Shared Abilities

  • Shadow's Embrace: Shadow's Embrace allows Dagger to switch to Cloak. Doing this automatically reloads Lightforce Dagger's ammo when swapping back to Dagger.
  • Eternal Bond (Ultimate):Their Ultimate, Eternal Bond, has both Cloak & Dagger perform four rapid spinning dashes along the ground, leaving a persistent energy carpet that simultaneously heals allies and damage enemies that step over it.
    • Players can change the direction of this ability between the dash pauses.
    • Each individual energy carpet lasts for 5 seconds.
    • The energy carpets can overlap and stack its effects.

How to Play Cloak and Dagger

Cloak and Dagger is a 2-in-1 hybrid Strategist with Duelist abilities. Out of all Strategists in Marvel Rivals, you can easily bring out a truckload of utility from Cloak and Dagger which includes constant healing, damage dealing and crowd control in game modes like Domination and Convergence.

You'll start out the match with Dagger by default, so let's begin with her abilities. When playing as Dagger your goal will be provide constant heal to your frontline and deal damage from long range thanks to her homing projectile ability which auto-targets at medium to long ranges. You'll use her Veil of Lightforce to increase the amount of heal provided in tricky situations. As for her Dagger Storm, which is the blue healing bubble deployed once thrown, you'll use it to mainly give constant healing to your Vanguards and Duelists at the front, and in dire situations you can use the bubble to heal yourself.

By using Shadow's Embrace you can switch to Cloak from Dagger at any time. Cloak is the Duelist counterpart of Dagger, and you'll use him for dealing increased damage if your opponents get close to you or your backline which mostly consists of your healer and secondary Vanguard. His primary fire is similar to Scarlet Witch's auto-targeting fire that allows you to keep dealing damage without needing to reload. You can use Terror Cape to throw a wall of Darkforce that makes your enemies vulnerable and deal increased damage for a certain time period. His Dark Teleportation ability is there for countering enemy ultimates, blinding enemies and disappearing with your whole team into thin air.

Cloak and Dagger's ultimate Eternal Bond is probably the most destructive and useful ability that allows you to create a field of constant healing and damage. You can use this ability to make space for your team, retake objective sites and stop enemy team from pushing a site you might be defending. Try using the ultimate in crucial or tight situations to make your enemies lose footing from a larger site.

However, as Cloak and Dagger try not to split far away from your team as you have no passive self-healing abilities, you'll get ripped shreds by almost all other characters in the enemy team. So, remember to stay in the backline and in action with your team to get the highest value out of your moveset.

Cloak and Dagger is probably the best Strategist to use for beginner and intermediate players that gives them the freedom to be a healer as well as a DPS providing unmatched utility for the team providing support in the backline and frontline.
