Pirate Coins are one of Lost Ark's in-game currencies and one which you will inevitably start to hoard. Once that happens, you need to find what the best way to spend them is.
Pirate Coins in Lost Ark are, usually, used to make various upgrades to your ships, and are the main currency used on the open seas when you encounter merchant's vessels. As you progress, though, you will find yourself spending less and less Pirate Coins, percentage-wise, due to how much you're actually farming them from various drops.
So, what is the best way to spend Pirate Coins? The answer is quite simple. Spend them on the only thing that matters at every stage of the game, your character.
The way to do this is by buying Giant's Hearts, which unlock additional skill points. Gitan's Hearts are a collectible in Lost Ark, and there are only 15 of them in the entire game to be acquired.
You can exchange for Giant's Hearts in the following locations:
- Blackfang's Den,
- Atlas,
- Freedom Isle.
Once you've bought them, you must turn them in at Wisdom Isle, to redeem the rewards.

The other 12 Giant's Hearts that can be found in the game come either as quest rewards, drops from Field Bosses, or from Rapports. to buy all three, you will need around ten thousand Pirate Coins, but it will be well worth it, giving you a headstart on completing another in-game achievement, while also boosting your character's capabilities.
